Riding in the Santa Ana Mountains

Riding the Yamaha TW200 from Costa Mesa, California up to Saddleback within the Santa Ana Mountains, touching both Modjeska Peak and Santiago Peak.  It’s roughly 27-miles from my house to the “Big White Gate” at the trailhead at Maple Springs Visitor Center located in Silverado Canyon. If the “Big White Gate” is open, I get to hit dirt and make my way up Saddleback! The nearest gas from here is roughly 14-miles back at the Chevron at 8544 E Chapman Ave, Orange, CA. I usually stop there to fill my tank before going up on the hill, but with the recent purchase of the Clarke 2.7-gallon tank specifically for the TW200, I simply filled up at the house and am stretching my riding legs today!

Riding the Yamaha TW200 has its pluses and minuses, but I like all the pluses enough to just keep own riding the little TDUB wherever I can! Aside from Freeways and super-technical stuff, this bike can take you everywhere. Well, you can go on the Freeway, but it will not be a pleasant experience unless the traffic is backed up and sub-50-mph. Hehehe But, why would you want to go on the freeway anyhow? You might miss a dirt road cut off!
