We will repeatedly tell you to clean your air filter! I will say, toss the stock and buy two, three UNI Filters and ROTATE OFTEN!

Change your TW200’s air filter RELIGIOUSLY!
Do it often, do it when you think you forgot you did it, do it again! And again! THIS IS THE ONE THING that saves your valves! The only thing you can do better for your valves is to park your bike! But come on, we bought these TDUBS to RIDE THEM, so parking them is plain silly!
If you like adjusting your valves all the time, then keep a dirty filter! But if you want to pre-long the time in between valve adjustments on your beloved Yamaha TW200, then CLEAN YOUR AIR FILTER!

After a big group ride on a dusty mountain, it’s time to clean this Yamaha TW200 air filter!

Dust just seems to find its way inside the heart of your bike.
Dust and the TDUB have a LOVE – HATE relationship!
It’s a four letter word…
Time to put some Purple Power to it! I do like to clean all the bits and parts on the TW200… Yes, I will use PP or Simple Green… Whatever I have at that moment. I’ve actually backed off of using the Purple Power as it is noticeably more corrosive that Simple Green.
Say hello to the UNI Filter! Old stock TW200 filter on the right is going bye-bye!
Get one, two or even three! Rotate-rotate-rotate and keep a clean one on hand at all times. Carry the second one for those dusty group ride weekends!

But only one elf per can. You can’t
see him, so make sure you read the fine print.
Or maybe some Maxima 61920 FAB-1 Air Filter Spray – 13 oz. Aerosol
Spray liberally.
The TW200 Uni Filter comes in a plastic bag and once I’ve juiced it, I put it back in the bag…
And work it all about! Don’t freak out, when blue mixes with yellow, it turns green. When blue mixes with red it turns purple.
Your TDUB filter is perfectly fine!
With the TW200’s air filter box cover all clean and ready to go back together, I’m going to do my little desert trick I’ve learned from the Baja legends. While the cover does have a rubber gasket seal, I’m going to add some waterproof grease around the ridge.
I use the Bel•Ray Waterproof Grease… FOR EVERYTHING!!! hehehe
NOW ITS READY TO GO BACK TOGETHER!!!
Add the little filter sub-frame back in.
Remove the filter from the plastic bag and blot the excess oil out.
NO THIS IS NOT A EDIBLE SANDWICH! Now it’s ready to re-assemble!
Go make yourself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich now!
Yes, you are going to have a little excess grease squeeze out… But that lets
me know I have grease sealing the airbox on the TW200.
Just clean off the excess.
NOW IT’S OFFICIAL – Factory UNI sticker in place!
Done and done! LETS GO RIDE!!!
