@WeWentFast asked to share our On Any Sunday Story.
We wrote, but this is an edited version – My little tidbits of life connected to Bruce Brown aka “The GODFATHER of Action Sports,” started when I was working as a t-shirt artist for O’Neill back when Robert “Wingnut” Weaver was the star of Bruce Brown’s ENDLESS SUMMER II. My co-worker and I were super excited to go see Endless Summer II as Wingnut was an O’neill sponsored athlete and we had sent him t-shirts along with suit for the global trip and we hoped to spot a couple of our shirts he might be wearing in the movie.
Bruce Brown – Rally Car Driver
I started rallying in 1999. During the 2001 Rim Of The World Rally in Palmdale, California I discovered through Mike Welch of Road///Race Engineering that he was prepping Bruce Brown’s Subaru rally car. Bruce’s wife was his co-pilot! I was so tickled to see they were also into rallying! It was rad to hang out with him on that level!
I think I bumped into him again at the 1000 Miles To Glory exhibit at the Peterson Museum that Marty Fiolka put together. I do know that is where I first met Pete Brock, but that is a whole other story!
December 2017 – Then came Dana Brown‘s premier in LA for Dust2Glory as pop’s was there in support of his son.
I truly consider myself the luckiest dude on earth!!! Especially when you consider that I grew up in the no-town country area of Sycamore, Alabama! yes, I made my way to California and spent a “lifetime” and chasing my inquisitive nature of whatever it may have been!
